Colorful Kitchens

Oh-so-pretty macarons from the magical Laduree Paris

I can't help but notice that color is everywhere recently.  And while that may not be surprising, we are slightly surprised in seeing bright colors in the kitchen--on the cabinetry.  I'm loving this trend, it reminds me of the bright colors seen in Laduree shops.  And better yet in addition to being on trend, painting your cabinets is also an inexpensive way to achieve a whole new look (added bonus!)  Here I have compiled a few of my favorite colorful kitchens I've seen so far:

Last Minute Thanksgiving Decorating

Not everyone has the time or money to decorate their dining table before their big Thanksgiving feast.
But that's okay--here are a few last minute decorating ideas:

1.
Have glass votives laying around?  Bunch them on your table--it's okay to mix!
Here we have shown Mercury Votive Holders from West Elm.

2.
Glitter your smaller pumpkins to add some extra glitz.  Thank you
Martha Stewart for giving us this brilliant idea.

3.
Don't forget placecard holders.  Get creative and use something fun like a pine cone
or if you can go purchase new ones such as these Mini Metal Chair Placecard Holders.

4.
Don't have votives?  Not to worry!  Cut-out tea light shaped holes from
sweetie pie pumpkins for a one-of-a-kind look.

5.
Use fallen fall leaves from your backyard or neighborhood to create wreaths or decorate your
dining table.  Try spray-painting some leaves gold for a glitzier look.

6.
Cut small branches from a red or yellow-leaved tree and make a beautiful & tall arrangement.

7.
My personal favorite is decorating with birch--use in flower arrangements or alone for a unique look.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Behind the Scenes of "Ugly Betty"

Pinned Image

Those of you who know me know that ABC's "Ugly Betty" is my all-time favorite TV show.  Nothing compares to the eclectic mix of characters, the enviable wardrobe collection, the hilarious comedy, and of course the amazing set decoration (which is anything but ugly).  From Wilhelmina's over-the-top penthouse apartment to the colorful Suarez home in Queens, each scene is filled with eye candy.  But my favorite is the Mode office; it is by far the best-dressed office I have ever seen.  I love how the decorators mixed iconic Eames chairs with IKEA office storage--it was pure genius.  I was excited to come across an article in Interior Design magazine showcasing the beautiful sets.  Below are some of my favorite photos from the article:
